Making Myself Better

I saw this idea on pinterest last month and at the time I mentioned to my boyfriend that I wanted to do it… flash forward to last night and we’re walking through walmart, getting some more dog food and he asks me, “How much weight have you lost?”
“umm.. 60 lbs. why?”

“here, hold this! And this one! And this one! Now stand still, so I can take your picture”

I didn’t even have time to fix my hair! But, yeah, this is what 60 lbs looks like, and this is what I’ve lost in the past year and a half… and OMIGOSH, it was heavy!! I had a hard time holding it up, let alone walking around with it… It was just the self-esteem boost I needed!

30. Progress
I was going to take a new one, but I decided to go with this comparison.
The top picture is our two families on my 24th birthday, so that would have been 2006. James was 8 months old.
The bottom is from April 2011. (I’m close to the same weight.) James was 5, Daniel 2, and Toby 5 months.
Though I’m the same weight, look at my running mileage from last April compared to this one:

The difference in my total mileage is even greater:

Progress comes in different forms.
We also progressed from living in a trailer to owning our own home.

18. Before & After
I finally made up my mind.

18. Before & After

I finally made up my mind.

I moved the stomach before & after to my progress blog.

I also posted a couple more, one of which has and answer box if you want to leave any feedback.

Actually, if you look at it at all, will you please drop a line in the answer box just so I know. I’m always curious who even looks at it.

If you don’t have the password, then ask, but I won’t give it to you if you’re male, not a fitness-related blog, or have absolutely no personal posts.

Now I’m trying to decide what to use as the before pic for #fitnessphotochallenge of the day. If I should use one from close to my high weight or close to my start weight or one where I’m wearing something comparable to what I’m wearing today (my dress from Goodwill that I mentioned but haven’t shown yet).

2 out of 5 kids (1 from each grade)  are absent today, so I haven’t had much teaching to do. With this small of a class, I don’t like to go over much if there’s someone absent because I’ll have to go over it again the next day.

I do our normal reading/English lesson and the math lesson, but have them read the pages for science and history. Then we’ll discuss 2 days worth of material in one day.

Old me VS new me

jazzie-onamission:

I deleted my before and after page because the pictures are leading their own lives. Only few people come to your blog and read your entire story. So I decided to make an overview with text AND pictures. I’ll make this post into a page on my blog too, because I do like my followers to see how far I’ve come.

Old me

A girl who didn’t like sports, was super lazy, unhappy, didn’t know anything about healthy food and exercise, was overweight and didn’t care much, let life pass her by without living it.

New me

A girl who’s lots of pounds lighter, loving any type of sports, trying to eat healthy, fluctuating weight but never planning to give up healthy lifestyle, puts mental and physical health first, aims high, loving life.

Take care of yourselves girls, it’s so rewarding.

This girl is one of my favorites. Not only has she made an amazing physical transformation, but she has dealt with so much in her life and never gives up.

When my phone rang last week, a strange number on the display, I almost didn’t answer it. But then I did. And I was surprised to hear who was on the other end.

It was Gretchen, from the Michigan Fitness Foundation. She was calling to congratulate me for being named an honoree for a

Kimi deserves this honor so much. I’m so glad to “know” her.

I hit my bad wrist on the doorframe while walking through my dark house this morning.

boo. It was starting to feel marginally better.

OPFABS weekend #2:

This Friday to Sunday, I challenge YOU to:

  • Cut out all Soda (this includes Diet Soda) - If you’re like me, this is going to be a toughie.
  • 30 squats before each meal. Run to the bathroom at a restaurant if you have to!
  • Learn a crazy dance move/routine - trust me trying to perfect a crazy move will have you sweating up a storm (you could always post it to show us your mad dance skills!) - Bottom line: have fun with this one!
  • 2 min of jump rope and 2 min of shadow boxing on Saturday and Sunday morning.
  • I stayed away from soda and drank water at both fellowship meals this weekend.
  • Sometimes the squats came after, but I did 30 around each meal.
  • Didn’t do the dance thing because we were pretty busy. I had other things that were more of a priority.
  • I got my jump rope & shadow boxing in.

Weight-related progress:

last week: 135.0, waist: 26 1/8, stomach 32 5/8, body fat % 20.3

this week: 132.6, waist: 25 7/8, stomach 32 3/8, body fat % 20.4

Down 2.4 lbs and 1/4” on waist & stomach. Since both weight & inches went down, I don’t know how my body fat went up.

Other progress:

  • 27/180 miles
  • 5 miles time 44:52

other things:

  • I had an amazing, juicy navel orange at lunch.
  • Jeremy said I was, “looking good” this morning.
  • I’m wearing my “new” skirt again, but with different things, so I’ll probably take a picture because I’m not completely sure if it works.

I pixellated the one from today to make the comparison more equal.
I don’t even know what my weight was in that first pic, but I know it wasn’t my highest.

look what I found on facebook today (from 2006)
I’ve been attacked my allergies, but have still done a couple productive things (strength workout & dishes), but I have a lot more I need to do.
I took progress pics for OPFABS in the bikini that I wear under my swim clothes. I’ll post them on my progress blog tonight.
I did follow the Weekend #1 Challenge with the exception of breakfast Saturday because I was at the retreat and there were not veggies available at breakfast. I did eat a lot of fruit, though.
After I scrape  then shower, I take progress photos in my swim clothes, post those here, and post my goals for the challenge. I’ll probably whip up a comparison shot with this photo and one from today. (Not the bikini ones. The clothes ones.)
Now it’s back to work. I just wish allergies didn’t make me feel shaky.

  • Thoughts
  • Yay progress. Hopefully the numbers will be about the same next month. If I can get this maintenance thing down, then I'll stop doing monthly measurements.

Decided it was time for another before & after.

I thought I looked really nice that night. I was not at my high weight yet.

Oh, and days that I do a long run (and happen to count calories) I eat over 2,000. Just so ya’ know.
