This means something to each individual, and can even have different meanings at different times for one person.
At that moment above, leaving my comfort zone meant jumping off a ledge into cold water (it was Jeremy).
Yesterday, leaving my comfort zone would have meant not eating that food alone in my car.
Today it means running intervals with temps in the mid-80s.
Tomorrow it might mean joining in a conversation.
Friday night it will likely mean that if I want there to be singing at out ladies’ retreat, I’ll have to be the one to lead the songs.
What’s awaiting you just outside your comfort zone?

So I have been so inspired and supported by all of you lately. I cannot describe how thankful I am for all the kind and encouraging words I receive from all of you. I want to thank you all in giveaway form.
These are two of my favorite things. I subscribe to Runner’s World Magazine. This month’s issue was very relevant to those of us losing weight, so I went out and bought one off the newsstand. Jay Robb’s vanilla protein powder is whey protein powder made out of all natural ingredients and stevia instead of sugar. This is just a single-serving sample, but it’s worth trying. It tastes absolutely delicious and contains 25 grams of protein per serving.
So those are the prizes that one person will receive along with a handwritten note from me.
There are rules of course, but they are easy and standard.
Since this is in gratitude for my fellow weight loss, running, and fitness blogs you must have a blog in one of those categories in order to win.
You also must be following me.
You can reblog this post once a day until the giveaway closes - that’s six chances!
The giveaway will be closing Monday, March 19, at noon CT.
Then I will use random.org to choose one winner.
The winner must have his or her ask box open so that I can contact him or her ASAP.
The winner then has until Wednesday night to contact me back with a mailing address.
I will ship internationally.
Those are the rules. You have a chance to enter up to six times! So have fun.

XOXO Lovely followers

Are you making yourself harder, better, faster, stronger?

Maybe the song by Daft Punk is overused, but I don’t care. Ever since I got it on the St. Jude Mix from Robin, I’ve played it on nearly every run.

I’m know I’m not the only one who gets fired up by that song.

Another thing that’s always inspired me is photos of regular people working out. Fitness models, airbrushed or not, usually just lead to negative thoughts. Photos of ordinary people, whether still obese or fit enough to be one of those models, working hard to make themselves better inspire me every time.

So here’s my idea:

I want pictures of you in action. I will combine them with one of my own to represent the 4 words. If I get enough submissions, I’ll make two or more of these.

The guidelines:

  • You need to be in action- running, lifting, cycling- whatever it is you do to make yourself better.
  • The pictures need to be portrait orientation (tall instead of wide) or have enough space on the sides for me to crop it to portrait.
  • The pictures need to be at least 400x600 pixels and of decent quality.
  • You need to be thoroughly clothed. If you workout shirtless, in short shorts, or with your cleavage spilling out, I won’t try to stop you. I just don’t want to use any photos like that.
  • You don’t have to be following me and I don’t have to be following you. If you hear about this randomly and want to participate, feel free.
  • You don’t need to be anywhere near your goal to participate. If you’re 200 lbs overweight but have a photo of yourself working hard, I’ll use it.

I’ll take the first 3 that can fit the different adjectives (with what I use for mine) and make that collage. Since I’m going out of town, it will be mid-next week at the earliest. Submit as soon as you want to.

I’ve only received one submission so far:

Yes, Joel, it will work. I can just rotate it.

I need at least 2 more submissions before I can put it together, so please submit.

I’ve seen this before, but a friend posted it on facebook, and it felt so relevant right now.

Things I’ve Learned from my Fitblr Family

fitsparrow:

healthybuddha:

  1. Judging others for their trails and tribulations is unfair to them and reflects poorly on you. The fitblr community does not tolerate judging or anon hate aimed towards anyone else in our close family—especially in light of recent instances involving a beloved fitblr leaving her blog. We all team up together to support each other on our journey towards healthiness, happiness, and self-love and we won’t stand for heartless, rude, and ignorant messages.
  2. You are not alone. Anything and everything you’ve experienced—there is someone else out there who has been through the exact same thing. We are all here to share our experiences, our advice, our troubles, and our accomplishments. You are never alone and there is a wealth of support waiting for you here.
  3. Your accomplishments are to be celebrated. Any accomplishment, no matter how large or small is to be celebrated. Even if your friends or family don’t quite support you, the fitblr family is here to share in your triumph and always encourage you to do more, try for more, and accomplish more.

Feel free to add your own!

4. There is always something new to learn. Whether it’s nutritional information about foods, the newest workout trend, or correct form for lifting weights, you can always glean something from reading fellow Fitblrs. I learn new stuff every single day.

5. Never be afraid to share your struggles.

You never know what others are secretly struggling with, and being open about your own may help people more than you could imagine. Also, the community is here to offer advice, help you up, or give you a push, depending on what the situation requires. (This goes along with #2, but I wanted to add more.)
