How the Limbless Waterman  (Craig Dietz) Does a 5K Swim

This is amazing.

Chat with my brother- how awesome is this?!?!?

Here…we are human.

Here… we can be real.

Here..we dream.

Here.. we struggle.

Here..we fight.

Here…we laugh, cry, celebrate, and rage together.

Here…we cheer each other on to greatness.

Here…we change our lives.

Here…we reach our goals.

Here…we grow.

Here…we become the best version of ourselves.

Here…with the support of so many…together…we become the person we always knew we were meant to be.

I did. I brought my lunch to the field trip instead of buying greasy food.

8. Your Inspiration
This isn’t from today. It’s actually from last June, but it was the only one I had of us right after running.
My inspirations are myself- to make myself better and to improve on the great things I’ve already done- and Jeremy- to enable myself to live a long, healthy life with him (and also to look hot for him…)

This is probably the best one from last night as far as sharpness goes.  I may post a few more just for questions concerning form.

My “fitspo” yesterday:
Jeremy- running not because he struggles with his weight or because he likes it (it really makes his knees ache), but because he wants to keep his heart strong.
The 4 gray-headed people running in a spread-out line. The last lady was grinning from ear to ear and made me smile, too.
The lady running with what looked like her daughter tagging along behind on her bike.
The lady with beautiful, snow-white hair power walking with her 1 lb weights. She walked about as long as I ran.
The group of mostly heavier women running up & down a small hill for their boot camp class. Later I saw them doing push ups and mountain climbers on yoga mats in the parking lot.
The group of children aged around 5 up to teenagers running endurance and agility drills
More and more,  I find myself inspired not by perfect looking fitness models (who decided that look is “perfect,” anyway) or even by real people faster or fitter than I am. I am inspired by anyone I see working hard, working with their bodies to make themselves better.
Where do you find inspiration?

This means something to each individual, and can even have different meanings at different times for one person.
At that moment above, leaving my comfort zone meant jumping off a ledge into cold water (it was Jeremy).
Yesterday, leaving my comfort zone would have meant not eating that food alone in my car.
Today it means running intervals with temps in the mid-80s.
Tomorrow it might mean joining in a conversation.
Friday night it will likely mean that if I want there to be singing at out ladies’ retreat, I’ll have to be the one to lead the songs.
What’s awaiting you just outside your comfort zone?

Are you making yourself harder, better, faster, stronger?

betternikki:

Maybe the song by Daft Punk is overused, but I don’t care. Ever since I got it on the St. Jude Mix from Robin, I’ve played it on nearly every run.

I’m know I’m not the only one who gets fired up by that song.

Another thing that’s always inspired me is photos of regular people working out. Fitness models, airbrushed or not, usually just lead to negative thoughts. Photos of ordinary people, whether still obese or fit enough to be one of those models, working hard to make themselves better inspire me every time.

So here’s my idea:

I want pictures of you in action. I will combine them with one of my own to represent the 4 words. If I get enough submissions, I’ll make two or more of these.

The guidelines:

  • You need to be in action- running, lifting, cycling- whatever it is you do to make yourself better.
  • The pictures need to be portrait orientation (tall instead of wide) or have enough space on the sides for me to crop it to portrait.
  • The pictures need to be at least 400x600 pixels and of decent quality.
  • You need to be thoroughly clothed. If you workout shirtless, in short shorts, or with your cleavage spilling out, I won’t try to stop you. I just don’t want to use any photos like that.
  • You don’t have to be following me and I don’t have to be following you. If you hear about this randomly and want to participate, feel free.
  • You don’t need to be anywhere near your goal to participate. If you’re 200 lbs overweight but have a photo of yourself working hard, I’ll use it.

I’ll take the first 3 that can fit the different adjectives (with what I use for mine) and make that collage. Since I’m going out of town, it will be mid-next week at the earliest. Submit as soon as you want to.

I’ve only received one submission so far:

Yes, Joel, it will work. I can just rotate it.

I need at least 2 more submissions before I can put it together, so please submit.
