What I wore + my hair today
Another one of those “I have no idea if this outfit works but I like it” days.
I’m pretty proud of the back of my hair. I managed to get it all in the braid & bun except one little strand. I can’t wait for a few more months when I can make it into a full braid then into a bun.
I may put on makeup for Bible study or I may not worry about it because allergies.

I did donate it to Locks of Love. There used to be salons that would cut your hair for free and send it in for you if you were donating, but the list from LoL’s website is gone, so I don’t know if many do it any more. I just went where I normally get my hair cut and told them how much I wanted off.
I’d recommend putting your hair into 4 or more ponytails instead of 1 big one because then it’s more even at the bottom. You can do the chop yourself and then have a salon make it even for you. After the cut, you print off a form from online and mail it in.
This time I’m growing it out for Pantene Beautiful Lengths because you only have to donate 8 inches. The catch is that your hair can’t have any type of chemical process done to it, so I’m having to forgo highlights. I’ve gotten used to the darker blond.
It was the 4th time I’ve chopped it. I’ve done it every 3 years starting in ‘03.
The reason i was upset after the first cut was because she cut more than 10 inches and it was way shorter than I expected and I felt like I looked like a boy.
This time it was just a little more than I wanted, but not that big of a deal. I was just matching my expression. I really do like my cut now.
Basically this morning was one big Pinterest fail.
I should’ve taken pictures, but I didn’t.
It’s all cleaned up now.
I actually gained followers this weekend which is the opposite of normal? From whence comest thou?

I still don’t like where I am physically, but I made peace with it after my accountability post a few days ago.
Ryland & I are at Panera right now, and we’ll be going on a walk soon. It’s just going to be an easy stroll because that’s what I want to do today.

Our hair is pretty much the same length. I should start finding 5 minutes to do something with it. I’m sure it would definitely help me feel better. Right now I look and feel like a hot mess.
This was’t even one of those things that’s only easy for me because I have a lot of practice. It would be easy for anyone.
In fact, I did my hair like that again today because I was running late for Ryland’s appointment. Here’s a side view so you can see what it’s like:

Speaking of Ryland’s appointment, he’s now 2 feet long/tall! He’s been sleeping even since I got him calmed down from his 2 shots he had to have. That was and hour and a half ago.
How I fixed my hair (more on it later)
Day 11: I am thankful for the veterans, both present and past, who fought so I can enjoy living in what is still one of the freest nations on Earth.
So, my hair… I’ve been trying to figure out how I’m going to fix it for my brother’s wedding in 6 days. None of the ways I’ve tried putting it up look good in the back. I decided to try curling my hair, but I only own a large curling iron (that I haven’t used in years). I borrowed one from a lady at church, and gave it a try this afternoon before we went back for evening worship.

My Halloween getup. I went to KK’s to get a free pumpkin spice donut in this, then walked at the park, but switched to sneakers, now I’m at Starbucks & I’m going to Walmart next.
I walked 5k in 42:51, 13:47 ave. pace. My splits were 14:16, 13:38, & 13:27. Do I get points for neg splits while walking.
Last night I worked out. I’ll post it in an edit in a minute.
Okay, here’s the workout I made up:
20 of each (total or per side if bilateral))
mountain climbers (each side)
slow bicycle crunches (total)
inside side leg lifts (each side)
walking lunges (total)
repeat 1 time
decide you need more
20 front kicks (each leg)
Short but still gave the slightest of doms in my hip flexors.
My herr. It grew.
5/5/12- the day of the cut to 8/22/12- today
Now it’s getting time for a trim and slightly different style. I don’t want to lose more than 1/4” of length since I am trying to grow it back out. Any ideas for something that would work with my hair texture and face shape (including the roundness of my cheeks when I smile)?

In related news, I saw a man older than my dad wearing a Captain America shirt in Publix. His wife (?) was in typical retiree-aged woman clothes. I am determined to break the double standard than men can continue to dress/act “young,” but women must look/act “their age.”
At camp, the other past-college-age women never play any sports except for softball and volleyball, if even that. I am determined to get out with the younger people and play ultimate, soccer, and flag football as long as I am physically able. /rant.
I haven’t been able to get online much lately. In fact, yesterday when I needed to do somethings, I went to the library because tumblr is blocked so I wouldn’t spend time on here. I think I may have to cut back on the number I follow, but don’t worry. If we talk, you’re staying.
I braided my hair, and it looks really cool except for the back because it’s still too short to finish in a pretty way, so it just ends in a nubby ponytail.
I also have a red place on my lip from where Jeremy “punched” me in the face last night. We were already in bed and had the lights off, and I saw his shadow move towards me and knew he was about to “play dead” on me and tickle me. I tried to move into a more defensive position and his knuckle ended up meeting my lip since neither of us could see what we were doing. He turned on the lamp to make sure I wasn’t bleeding, saw that I wasn’t, then we laughed a lot and went to sleep.
Yesterday I didn’t workout, but I did vacuum, clean the seats, and wash my car and did some other active housework things. I’m planning on running this evening if it’s not storming. Rain is okay; lightning is not.
I’m also putting push ups on hold (again) until I finish scraping the bathroom. Trying to do both means I can’t scrape as long, and I really want to get it finished in time to paint before my birthday, which is in a month.
I guess that’s all the updates for now. I may stop somewhere else after I run some of my errands this afternoon. If I run, I’ll definitely check in afterwards.
My hair was really cooperative this morning.
Down to 135.2 today from 137.6 on Friday. Yay getting back on track!

I don’t know if you can see the bit of purple in my hair, but it’s a silicon headband I got from the dollar tree. $1 for 3 and it didn’t budge during my run. No flyaways in my face. I highly recommend them for people with smallish heads. Of course it didn’t help with the sweat dripping in my eyes.

You know how it feels when it’s been cloudy and raining, and then it stops raining, the sun comes out, and it heats up 10 degrees while it feels like the water in the puddles has turned to steam? That was yesterday. I also rolled my ankle because I got too close to the edge of the road where it slants sharply, but I didn’t hurt it.
Saturday, I did week 1, day 3 of 100 push ups, plus abs. This time I did butterfly sit-up to standing with no hands for the first 2 sets and regular butterfly sit-ups (CrossFit style minus the abmat) for the last three. I also did fast bicycle crunches, counting each right-left series as one rep. On the last set, I switched to super-slow bicycle crunches, which are about 5x harder than quick ones.
The numbers: 11/15/9/9/13
so 57 push ups, 26 butterfly-stand-up-sit-ups, 31 butterfly sit-ups, 44 bicycle crunches and 13 super-slow ones.
