Making Myself Better

I probably shouldn’t run today

since my leg started hurting again yesterday.

(Thanks to those who replied when I asked about DUs)

@Steph- I’m definitely doing them wrong because I jump really high. I don’t have the wrist movement down. I don’t even know if my right wrist will even let me turn the rope fast enough. And I get exhausted after just a few jumps.

@K- I think I’ll try doing them either inside, if I can find a big enough space on the hardwood, or outside on my yoga mat.

Back to my leg…

It doesn’t hurt this morning, but it didn’t hurt yesterday morning and started later in the day even though I didn’t do anything that would cause it to hurt.

I need to let it get better.

Friday evening & Saturday Jeremy & I are hiking/ camping the southernmost portion of the Pinhoti trail. I’ve never been there, but I know there’s a lot more elevation than where we normally go.

Next Saturday is the 10k trail run with Pam.  Even if I have to take the next week & a half off from running and stick to walking & biking, I know I can run a 10k.

Then that next day is when I go to camp- a week of running around nearly all day long (except for the times spent eating, sleeping, worshiping, and a few other activities).

I really need my leg to not be hurting me.

So today I will ride the lame stationary bike to give myself 1 more day to heal, and we’ll see from there.

Question for crossfitters & other who do double unders:

On what type of surface do you do them?

I’m still in enough pain that it’s difficult to put weight on my right leg. It hurts all the way down my fibula from my knee to my ankle.

I’m probably doing them wrong because I’ve never been trained or anything.

I almost always jump on our concrete patio. Occasionally on our tile kitchen floor, but there’s not much room.

Any advice? (I’m out of questions)

I wish this picture better showed how sweaty I was. You can see a bit of the hill in the background.

See my cute little hill:

Our hills are so wimpy. haha
Then, since wearing my Warrior Dash shirt makes me feel hardcore, I decided to practice double unders. I got 1 the first time I tried every time, strung 2 a couple times, and got 3 once. I could’ve gotten 3 one other time, but I stepped backward off the patio onto the grass.
I also did some other jumps, totaling about 5 minutes. During the DU practice, my right leg started to hurt, and it kind of feels like bone pain, not muscle pain. Boo.
Now that I’ve destroyed my legs, I’m going to go destroy my arms & shoulder via scraping as soon as I’m done eating & clean the kitchen. Seriously, if you like how my shoulders look, bring your stepladder & your scraper over to my house and come help me scrape paint.
Oh! I saw something pretty awesome in the mirror this morning and took a couple pictures to put on my progress blog. I don’t know if anyone else can see it. It’s pretty faint in the mirror and even fainter (of course) in the pictures.
