Making Myself Better
Posts tagged "box jumps"

My run.

So parts were fast. It was breezy again, which makes such a big difference with the stroller.

During my cool down walk, I went to this little amphitheater and did 10 bench jumps. It was about 22 or 23”. My legs were beat after the intervals. I stepped down instead of jumping down because there’s no reason to make my joints cry.

I tried to get it out of my head that everyone I passed (especially while walking) was judging me for my shirt. They most likely weren’t, and if they were, they have their own issues to deal with.

After my run, I did a total of 10 23 1/2” bench jumps.
Then I felt lightheaded again, so I just hoped I had enough good pictures to make a gif.
I guess that depends on your definition of “good.”

Now that I run in goofy pigtails instead of a long ponytail, I get more confused looks than checking out looks. That’s fine with me!

I experienced a lot of discomfort on this run, though it lessened when I picked up the pace for the last mile. I guess I should’ve tried running faster the whole time.
I was finding my starting point for my 7 miles in an hour goal. I hit the 7 mile point around 1:04:25, so I have about 4 1/2 min. to shave off.
After walking and stretching, I did some bench jumps- 5x24” & 5x25”. I probably could’ve done a couple more of eat level, but I still have a mark on my shin from the last time I didn’t make a jump- about 9 months ago.

★All the updates★

Except for my Warrior Dash post.

I’ll get addresses sorted out for the CD swap in the next couple of days. If anyone else wants in, send me an email at betternikki@gmail.com tonight or tomorrow.

I got 12 points for LDLC last week. I did push ups Sunday. I ate more than I should’vee, but didn’t break the rules I set for myself.

Today I get 1 point because I did secret eating. This week we need 12 points, so I can only slip up once more, or I won’t make it.

SoS:

5/22: 133.8 lbs, 26” waist

5/23: 133.8 lbs, 26” waist

5/24: 134.8 lbs, 26” waist

5/25: 135.0 lbs, 26” waist

5/26: X-out of town

5/27: x, 25 7/8” waist (still out of town, but remembered to measure)

5/28: 135.0 lbs, 26” waist

At least I maintained this weekend.

Today’s run:

4 miles, 36:29, 9:07 pace average.

I was planning on more, but my legs felt heavy from the very first step. Then I had to stop and go to the bathroom, and decided to stop.

Then I did 3 sets of 10 20” bench jumps.

After that, Jeremy and I sat for a while in the breezy shade.

I got my grades all done. Everyone passed everything. Tomorrow is our last day of work.

Our preacher’s wife called me today and told be about a possible job for the summer and maybe beyond.

This is all I did.
When I was stretching after the first 2 laps, I almost threw up. I ran one more lap anyway.
Then I walked. I decided to try a bench jump and went to one that I remember being a little intimidating. I found the freckle on my leg the height was closest to so I could measure it at home. I made the jump easily, but I just did 1 because of how I was feeling otherwise. When I measured at home, it was 25”. I’ll practice on that one more this summer and also try to find higher benches to try.
Southern cooking buffet + over 90 degrees is not good even if you do wait over an hour. I didn’t even get that full.
It’s time to head to Jeremy’s parents’. I’ll try to get on to check in with the challenges.
Have an awesome weekend!

pennies for jumps.wmv (by snikkio16)

No costume or lip-syncing, but I squeezed out 46 jumps in all. My camera likes to cut off before I’m done with my videos, so I patched 2 together. You still don’t get to see all of them.

I would’ve done one more round, but it was kind of making my back hurt. :/

December Workout Challenge 19/20

First, I did the same circuit strength workout from Health magazine that I did the other day. Even the arm/should moves involve squats.

Then I did a couple ab moves that were later in the same magazine because I wanted something different.

Finally, I did 3 sets on 15 jumps onto a 17” chair.

And, hey, you need to see this close up of my arms:
