I think I will go with the Runner’s World version of the FIRST program starting next week. (Thanks to runslikeapenguin for directing me to it.) The comments on the page are about 99% positive, especially for people who struggle with injury like I do.
They all said it’s crucial to hit the goal paces in the training runs, but I’ve been struggling so much with the
heat humidity lately, I’ll probably run a bit slower than prescribed for a few weeks at least.
I’ll probably only cross train once or twice a week with walking or cycling. It will depend on how tired I feel from the runs. I’ll also continue my somewhat sporadic strength training.
I’ll definitely keep y’all posted on how I like the program.
