I really just feel like that promotes the idea that working out is all about what you look like, and the only true results are visible ones. What about trying to build a stronger core? More powerful…

It’s no secret that wanting to look a certain way definitely has a (pretty big) role in why I work out. And there’s nothing wrong with having appearance goals.

But like Carly said, caring for young children takes a lot of muscular endurance. My arms will be dying after holding one of my friend’s kids for a fairly short time, but they can hold their children seemlingly indefinitely. That’s a big reason why I started doing arm strength training. I really couldn’t care less whether or not I have “nice guns” if I can’t hold a child we adopt for as long as may be necessary.

Side note: Carly, I never cease to be amazed at how wise you are beyond your years.
